I’m Andrew Woo, a dad of three in Singapore. I started Curiosity Labs to work through a question I face with my own kids: what kind of education will prepare them for the world they’re growing up in?
That takes me into questions like:
What does a good tutor do that a classroom or an app doesn’t?
When does AI help a child learn, and when does it do the work for them?
What makes a school work beyond its curriculum and test scores?
I read the research, talk to people building and running schools, and write about what I learn. I try to be clear about what the evidence shows, what I think, and what we still don’t know.
I write primarily for parents making decisions about their children’s education. I also hope the work is useful to teachers and people trying to build better schools.

What Alpha School Actually Built examines the motivation, people and school routines behind the promise of learning twice as much in two hours.
The $100,000 Tutor Test asks what intensive tutoring actually provides, and which parts families need to pay for.
